This unit definitely solved the overheating problems I was experiencing with my laptop. Unfortunately, if you jar the unit, one of the fans starts making noise and you have to turn it off and back on to make it go away. Overall, I have been pleased.

So far, so good... this unit is very quiet compared to other laptop coolers I haved used. Variable speed, not just a high or low switch is a boon giving just the right amount of air flow. However, the outer case is slightly fragile, a previous review mentioned the fan getting stuck and having to shake the fan loose is a viable criticism.

This keeps my computer A LOT Cooler! I have a 17" Notebook, so the cooler is a bit smaller than my computer. However it still fits well enough to give a good centimeter between thecomputer and cooler, So it still gets good airflow. Also, its thin enough ti fit in my computer bag when I travel..

this lp top cooler works great but the only thing it needs todo is shut off when u are not using your laptop

I bought this cooler to use with my new Dell 15" notebook. The cooler has done an excellent job of keeping it cool. I play several games regularly, and WOW online for hours at a time with no problems! While it is plastic, and feels a touch too flexy, it is the perfect size for 15" and under notebooks, and has held up well so far! For the price....I'd highly recommend it!

This will insulate your legs from the heat of the laptop. However, it is bulky and slippery. It is worth the price if you want just basic isolation from the laptop.

With the newer laptops, (more memory and better displays) comes the problem of overheating. I spent a lot of time researching a laptop cooler. Decided on this one for size, amount of fans and the ability to adjust the fans speed. Using a program to monitor my CPU heat output, I turned on the unit and watched the results. For my laptop, there was a marked improvement in my CPU Temperature. Now I can get the full use of my computer without having it shut down!

Pros:
- Light weight
- Low noise
- Adjustable speed of fans
- Travels well

Cons:
- Needed a minor adjustment on laptop placement

I should have just dropped the extra cash for a Zalman. That's what I ended up doing after a few months. This cooler has fairly high volume fans, but it's a "puller" rather than a "pusher" design. Fans that blow air toward the computer are much more effective. This notebook cooler works decently, but it's a bit flimsy (made of plastic), and it's not as effective as my Zalman NC1000 (which has an aluminum plate on top). However, there is one advantage. While the inlets for the fan are on the top, the outlets are on the sides rather than the bottom. If you use the computer on your lap, it's much easier for the hot air to escape. I appreciated this feature, but learned to work around the disadvantage of having bottom intakes when I bought my newer cooler.

Shortly after I received this Notebook Cooler, I accidentally damaged the power supply cable. After checking the local electronics and computer supply stores I discovered this 12" cable is unique to this product, or at least to StarTech. I searched their web site, which offers a wide variety of cables, but this particular cable was not listed. So I contacted the company directly by telephone. They informed me they would not provide a replacement cable. The only solution was for me to purchase a totally new notebook cooler. In other words, their idea of customer service was for me to spend another $28 instead of maybe $4. With service like this, I would never recommend purchasing any product from StarTech.
